Im-Perfect

The work presents three fundamental geometric forms—a square, a circle, and a triangle—arranged with apparent neutrality on a slightly off-white field. At first glance, they suggest classical formal clarity: a vocabulary of perfect shapes reduced to their essential presence. However, this perceived precision is undermined by subtle structural deviations. Each form contains slight irregularities in its construction, enough to disturb mathematical ideality without breaking visual coherence. The result is a system that appears stable but never fully resolves into perfection. Color reinforces this instability. The square, circle, and triangle are rendered in closely related tones of grey, dark grey, and a muted near-black. These shifts are minimal but decisive, preventing any hierarchy of form while introducing a quiet atmospheric tension across the composition. What emerges is not a celebration of geometric purity, but its controlled failure. The work operates in the space between ideal form and material imperfection, where abstraction becomes visibly fragile. Rather than presenting geometry as absolute, the piece exposes it as something negotiated—always slightly off, always resisting full alignment.
