A House Without an Interior
2026
A house is recognised through the promise of an interior. Walls, roof and doorway tell us that somewhere within its outline there must be a space to inhabit. Here, that promise is quietly withdrawn. Isolated in a silent landscape, the familiar form becomes an uncertain boundary between inside and outside. The open doorway offers passage, yet withholds the room we expect to find beyond it. Architecture retains its recognisable shape while its most fundamental purpose begins to dissolve. The work asks where a house resides: in the space it encloses, or in the image through which we recognise it. With ornament and human presence removed, the structure becomes a meditation on enclosure, absence and the uneasy distance between a form and the place it promises.
