Architectural Decomposition
2026
The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Rome’s EUR district is observed not as a finished building, but as a collection of elements. The dome, drum, lantern, structural volumes, entrances, stairs and base are separated and suspended in space. The basilica remains recognizable, yet its unity is temporarily denied. The work explores the idea of deconstructing architecture in order to see it differently: no longer as a single body, but as the sum of the parts that make it possible. Photography becomes the starting point for a conceptual transformation. The building is not reconstructed as an impossible structure. Instead, the work reveals what architecture normally conceals — its own structure.
