The Counterweight

The Counterweight is the most immediate paradox in the series. The scales promise an objective comparison, then contradict it. Absence weighs more than presence without being countable. The work asks about the relationship between material quantity and lived importance. A single missing element can shape an entire situation. The image leaves open whether this weight is pain, desire, responsibility or a lost possibility. It does not claim that emptiness always prevails: it presents a case in which the available measure cannot explain the balance.
