The Fold

The Fold questions the persistence of a learned form. Fabric, a material able to cling and yield, continues to arrange itself around a contact that is now impossible. Absence is read in the habits of the surface: where it rises, in the directions in which it falls. It is the memory of the smallest gestures. Waiting, leaving space, preparing something for two can outlive the relationship that produced them. The raised form need not reconstruct an individual; it shows matter that has adopted an arrangement it cannot yet release.
