The Wound

The Wound turns absence into a dividing force. The original continuity can be recognised in the corresponding edges, yet reassembly remains prevented. Emptiness acquires thickness: it is not simply the space left by a break, but what keeps it open. The work concerns a relationship in which distance also changes the edges of those who remain. The parts are no longer as they were before the separation. They can still recognise one another without fitting together again. Stone introduces vulnerability into matter we are accustomed to thinking of as stable.
